To those who obey God

These days, there are so many preachers, preaching and emphasizing on so many different things. How are you going to discern whether a certain preacher is anointed and representing God or not anointed and just speaking from himself?

In other words, how will you sift sound doctrine from unsound doctrine?

The answer is found in Jn 7:17.

Jn 7:17 "If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself."

If you are willing to do God’s will (however much it may cost you) then you will be able to discern whether a teaching is from God or from man.

Why is that so? It is because God is intimate with the upright.

Prov 3:32 For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; but He is intimate with the upright.

It is to the upright that God gives an understanding of His word. The upright are those who do what God says. Therefore, if you want understanding then you must do His commandments.

Ps 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.

The reason why you must keep His commandments is because you love Him, and not because you can get something out of Him.

Jn 14:21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."

It is to those who prove their love for Jesus by obeying His commandments that Jesus will disclose Himself to.

You don’t have to be old in years in order to understand God’s word.

Ps 119:100 I understand more than the aged, because I have observed Your precepts.

It is the attitude that counts. That is why Samuel, even though he was just a child was able to hear from God while Eli heard nothing. That is also why Jesus was able to amaze people with His understanding of God.

Lk 2:46-47 46 Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers.

The opposite is also true. That is, if God shows you something and you ignore it instead of obeying it then why should He show you more?
