Do you love?

Perfection is genuine love for everyone (God and man) at all times.

People who have sound doctrine cannot but increase in their love for their fellowmen. I mean, genuinely love them – every single one of them.

The fact that you can love is proof that you have true knowledge of God.

1 Jn 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Now we are not talking about loving your friends and relatives. That comes naturally to most people. We are talking about loving our enemies. A true understanding of Scripture leads you to this.

Mt 5:44-48 44 "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

If you withhold goodness from those who have offended you then your knowledge of Scripture is deficient. There’s no point in getting an ‘A’ in theory if you’ve got an ‘F’ in practice.
