When you teach, be loving

As we have seen above, when you have received sound doctrine and have made it a part of your life you can, and should, teach it to others.

However, don’t expect people to listen and eagerly receive sound doctrine. As Scripture prophesies in several places, most people will not like to hear sound doctrine.

Therefore, we should expect persecution. We should expect to be called names. Jesus Himself said so.

Mt 5:1-12 10 "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Don’t be afraid of what people can do to you – God is in full control, and nobody can do anything to you unless God allows them to do so.

You will make enemies. Deal with your enemies in love. Don’t wish evil upon them. And most certainly, don’t do evil to them. Leave room for the wrath of God.

Mt 5:43-44 43 "You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

Yet, be careful about what you teach, and to whom you teach sound doctrine to. Don’t throw pearls to swine. Jesus didn’t teach everything to everyone.

Mt 7:6 Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Above all, remember that without love, we are nothing.

1 Cor 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

It is those who endure in love till the end who will be saved.

Mt 10:22 "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved."

Mt 24:12-13 12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved."

When you reach heaven you will find that all the suffering was worth it.
